The American musician Robert Levin has become a living legend as both scholar and performer. A leading exponent of the fortepiano,
his charismatic playing and fearless improvisation have ensured him a loyal and growing following. He performs two Haydn masterpieces
with violinist Elizabeth Wallfisch and cellist David Watkin, alongside a trio that Mozart wrote at the height of his powers,
and one of Beethoven's earliest Viennese successes.
'Levin plays the music as if he's writing it himself,
for the first time. Every transformation and reinvention - not least his volleys of improvised ornament and embellishment
- has the orchestra as much on the edge of their seats as the audience' (Times review of Levin with the Orchestra of the
Age of Enlightenment).
